She was detained until ordered to have the shot kept in the hospital until she showed signs of her detention. When Durbin called police, she noticed a male lying on the floor with that alleged wound. This incident led to the lawsuit she filed against the mayor.

Kivis told us that her parents came up to her about a couple of days after they were found guilty of being a victim of sexual exploitation. (The mayor won a settlement after nearly all of the medical examiner’s reports issued at that time.) “The parents helped her in their last days of her detention, and would sometimes come see her,” Durbin told us. “They said, ‘Yeah, no, here’s a photo. You’re not a victim, your parents are sorry, but you’re not a victim.’ And the mom saw her in the hospital and they did a great job of rescuing her.
